Sunlight. Most love to soak up the rays and embrace it’s comforting warmth. Just the word conjures up thoughts of hot summer days, sandy beaches, and relaxation.

Nowadays, most people are aware of the importance of sun safety. We know how to protect ourselves outside by:

  • Applying sunscreen to prevent burns and combat UV rays
  • Wearing sunglasses to protect our eyes
  • Drinking lots of water to avoid dehydration
  • Taking breaks in the shade as to not overheat

Yet, most people assume they are only in danger when they are directly exposed. That while inside, untreated glass leaves you protected from harmful UV rays.

The International Window Film Association (IWFA) took to the streets to California, to see what people knew about indoor sun protection:

Clearly, information on indoor sun protection isn’t as commonplace as its counterpart.

According to the official site of the Skin Cancer Foundation (
Ultraviolet radiation can travel through car and home windows, where it can contribute to the daily accumulation of sun exposure that can lead to skin cancer and photoaging.

Simply put, it comes down to exposure. UV rays can bounce off water, sand, and of course can pass through glass. As such, UV rays streaming through unfiltered windows can be just as potentially harmful to your wellbeing inside your home as outside without protection.

The same holds true for your furniture and interior.

In your home, year after year, the sun’s UV rays cause colours to fade, fabrics to fray, wood to crack. This damage to your furnishings, floorings, artwork gets worse over time, and can never be reversed. But – it can be significantly reduced.

Applying specially engineered solar window  films can block 99% of those harmful UV rays, saving thousands of dollars in potential sun damage, while helping to preserve the beauty of your home – and your valued possessions – for as long as you own them.

Along with these benefits, solar films also cuts down heat within the home, which can reduce utility costs (air conditioning).

It’s a clear case (like our films) that solar film has come along way. Enhance your safety by rejecting UV, stop excess heat, and lower your cooling costs today.
