Q:
What is a window graphic?
A:
Window graphics, also sometimes referred to as window or door wraps, are a way to safely enhance a glass surface. With custom window graphics, businesses can create a professional and branded exterior, making it a cost-effective marketing choice. Whether looking to create a distinct look or feel in a business or advertise sales, window graphics allow for complete flexibility in design and application.
Q:
What is decorative window film?
A:
Decorative window graphics are a film used to enhance the windows or glass doors of a space by offering added privacy, personalized imagery, or messaging. There are varying degrees of privacy available when selecting a window graphic, depending on the opacity of the film selected, and the style chosen. Often frosted, etched, or graphic window film with a pattern can achieve this high-end and functional look in a home, retail, or office space.
Q:
Are window graphics see-through?
A:
At Window Film Systems, we offer the flexibility to print on just about any type of film available. When printing on our optically clear film, portions of the design that do not require printing on them will allow you to see through with ease. The printed sections will allow light to pass through, however, they are not necessarily see-through.
For external applications for storefronts and businesses, we typically use a perforated film. The print side is on the outside, and the product backing is black which allows the eye to see through the glass without much disturbance of the view.
Q:
Can window graphics be mounted to the inside and outside of a window?
A:
The simple answer here is yes, though when referring to graphics, most of that work is on interior finishes so it’s not a question of inside vs. outside placement, but rather where you want to best view the graphic.
Q:
How do I clean decorative windows?
A:
Decorative windows can easily be cleaned, but special attention should be made to ensuring the longevity of the decorative film. When cleaning, be sure to use a soft cloth, paper towel, or a clean synthetic sponge. Any traditional glass cleaner will suffice, as long as it does not contain any abrasive materials or ammonia. As for drying, a soft, clean cloth is recommended. Scratch-resistant coating is available with most window film styles, which can eliminate the need for added precaution when cleaning decorative window film.
